Community has always been at the heart of Kaleidoscope Studio. Our hope is that everyone who comes through the door feels supported and included here. In October, we started a new tradition with a Thanksgiving Tree, where we shared things for which we were thankful on leaves and added them to the tree. This holiday season, we are starting another new tradition called KaleidoKitty Christmas as a way to extend our community care and support to Pet Patrol; a volunteer-run, no-kill, non-profit cat rescue.
For those who know me, I have a soft spot for cats; I always have. In 2021, we adopted four beautiful kittens from rescues in the area. Our first stop was at Pet Patrol because of their excellent reputation in our community, but more than that, their rescue embodies similar values to the studio: all kitties are valued and given a chance to belong. Any cat who is not adoptable, is housed in their sanctuary for the duration of their lives. They work hard to meet the needs of each kitty, through foster homes and finding forever homes. In their own words: “We do everything in our capacity to make sure that all opportunities for the cat are met.”
I have spent some time volunteering at the sanctuary. They rescue stray cats. They support families who may not be able to afford spay or neuter surgeries for their cats. They accept surrendered pets, no questions asked and without shaming the person having to make that difficult decision. They support other rescues who may not have capacity to house kitties – this was the situation for our Riordan, and we are so grateful!
So, we invite you to empty our KaleidoKitty Christmas tree by bringing a donation for our campaign. Below is a list of items that Pet Patrol uses on a regular basis. You are welcome to purchase any one of these and bring it in, or you can bring a cash donation. Every item or cash donation given allows you to take a kitty ornament from our tree to take home as a reminder that community means supporting all beings—big, small, two-legged, and four-legged!
